Act 129 Rebates are Expiring May 31st

Act 129 creates incentives for Pennsylvania electric utilities to become more energy-efficient.

Act 129 required Pennsylvania electric utilities with more than 100,000 customers to reduce consumption by 3 percent and reduce system demand by 4.5 percent during peak hours by May 31, 2013. To meet this mandate, utilities created generous rebate programs to encourage their customers to make their homes and businesses more energy-efficient.

Act 129—a historic piece of energy savings legislation passed in 2008—has helped many Pennsylvania businesses save a lot of money on electric bills through efficiency upgrades and cash incentives from utilities to pay for improvements.

Unfortunately, time is running out on the first phase of ACT 129—including current rebate programs that have been offered as a result of the legislation.
