HEAT FOR THE NEEDY
WHAT IS HEAT FOR THE NEEDY?
TUDI Mechanical Systems and Standard Air & Lite are teaming up
to announce the 10th Annual Heat for the Needy program.
Heat for the Needy is TUDI's One Day Miracle, when the
TUDI Team and
their families come together and volunteer their time to install new
furnaces into the homes of needy families in the Pittsburgh area, at
no cost to the recipients.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each year, we solicit nominations from the community for
individuals or families that have a need for a new system but
cannot afford the investment. In the past we’ve selected
anywhere from 8–12 nominees to receive new furnaces.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR HEAT FOR THE NEEDY?
The Heat for the Needy program was developed to bring warmth to families who otherwise could not afford to do so on their
own. To qualify for the program, we ask that the nominator send a
letter detailing the family’s situation and current form of heat.
HOW ARE NOMINEES SELECTED?
Once the nominations are received, we begin our selection process
whereby we evaluate and validate each case. We typically select nominees and make personal visits to their homes to further qualify
their level of need. From there, we select recipients to receive
new furnaces.
WHEN ARE THE FURNACES INSTALLED?
Each year, the TUDI team and their families volunteer
their time to participate in our “One Day Miracle”. Furnace
installations are completed within one days time.
HOW ARE NOMINATIONS ACCEPTED?
Nominations are received from family, friends, neighbors, and even
strangers who wish to touch someone’s heart during the holiday
season. We ask that you provide a letter including background on the
individual or family’s situation and information on how to contact
the nominator and nominee.
